the development of emotionally secure
children and a stable family.

Action Plan for Positive
Parent-Child Communication:

1.) Choose words that your child
can understand.
2.) Be a good listener.
3.) Be direct, honest, and open.
4.) Be sensitive to the emotional impact
of the messages you send your child.
Think before you speak.
5.) Make time each day to have a
conversation about anything
you or your child like to discuss.
6.) Use questions in conversations with
your child to show your interest and
to generate an open response.
Professional Development Incentive &
Educational Supplement Program

There are two programs aimed at rewarding Providers who have increased
knowledge in the early childhood field. Providers can only participate in one of
these programs.

  • Professional Development Incentive (PDI)
    Program distributes an annual bonus based on KDHE training hours.
    10+ hrs. = $100 or 20+ hrs. = $175

  • Educational Supplement Program: Bonus is given in July and December
    for providers who have at least 6 hrs. of Early Childhood college credit,   
    their CDA or a college degree. If you are a participant of KQRIS and  
    receive a wage supplement through Child Care WAGE$®, you are not
